How will the Low carb diet work for you?

This diet focuses on a higher protein intake, an optimal intake of vitamins and minerals and a balance of natural fats. By limiting your carbohydrate intake initially to 20 grams daily, you jump-start your weight loss as your body begins to burn fat.

Breakfast

Fried bacon, egg & courgette with cherry tomatoes

  • 2 rashers of back bacon, 1 chopped courgette, 5 cherry tomatoes and 1 egg fried in 2 tsps of olive oil

Lunch

Lamb skewers with coleslaw

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 120g of lean lamb fillet
  • 2 tsps oregano
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 90g of coleslaw

Method

  1. Preheat the grill to a medium-high heat. Cut the lamb into 1 inch cubes, toss in the oil and coat with the herbs.
  2. Cook for 8-10 minutes until the lamb is tender and browned. Serve the lamb skewers with the coleslaw.

Dinner

Chicken salad

Ingredients

  • 120g of chicken fillet
  • 1 serving of mixed salad leaves
  • 2 tsps of low fat salad dressing
  • 1 tbsp of grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  1. Grill chicken and cut into 1/2 strips. Place on top of washed and drained lettuce.
  2. Toss with dressing, sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and serve.

Snack

Tomato & cheese dip with celery

  1. Mix 60g of feta cheese , 30g of cottage cheese, 1 tbsp of chopped fresh coriander and 2 chopped cherry tomatoes in a bowl
  2. Chop 1 stalk of celery into sticks and use for dipping.
