There's something amazing about reaching your target weight. It's much more than just losing the pounds and  inches, it's about feeling great about what you've achieved. Since I reached my target weight last September, I have so much more confidence and energy - not because I'm slim, but because I set out to do something really hard and I achieved it. All of us who have lost weight know it's about minds, hearts and bodies.

Now I'm trying to keep the weight off, and to be frank, it's a lot harder than I thought, so I've been looking round for help and advice. I spoke to other dieters and they agree - there's a lot of interest in helping you lose weight, but keeping it off - you're on your own.

Inspired by my new bold and confident self, I asked Tesco Diets what they did to help people like me keep the weight off. Were they just waiting for us to pile the weight back on and come back to lose it all again?  Was their money in our failing?  Tesco Diets have taken up the challenge to work with us to find out more about how they and others can help us maintain a healthy weight and I hope that my blog - and our knowledge and experience - will change things.

Some companies are now catching on. If you've been watching Secret Shopper and looked at what Mary Portas has been doing, you'll see that she's been challenging companies to work with their customers to make sure that they get what they want and get a good service. Well I think that applies to us as well.  Every dieter I have ever met knows an awful lot about food, diets and weight loss and we're a pretty articulate lot.  We know that losing weight is more than just what we know, it's about changing something really important about ourselves and our lives. If you've not been through the experience it's easy to under estimate just how hard it is.  We all need to hear much more from those of us who have learned about weight loss and maintenance by doing it, our expertise is based on real experience not theory.

So ladies and gents, let's get our voices heard and let's start calling a few shots.  What works for you? What help and support do you need to get to and stay a healthy weight?  What are your biggest challenges?

I have another agenda, a personal one. I need help keeping the weight off and I'm really hoping that this will help me. I really really don't want to go back there again. Maybe we can help each other.

If you've got something to say, get in touch. If you've got a blog, send the link and I'll put it on the page. Let's start getting our voices heard - get typing!

  1. Hi Debbie, thank you! What a good idea not to write it down all the time but now and then just to keep an eye, I'm sure it keeps your eye in even subconsciously. And a big yes to zumba, isn't it fab! Discos aren't quite my thing any more but I can capture my misspent youth at the zumba class. Well done you! Sx

  2. Hi Sue,

I loved reading your blog and yes keeping the weight off once you reach your target can be difficult. They way I keep within my healthy weight range is to write down what I'm eating. I don't do it everyday about everything single thing that passes my lips, but generally as a rule I'll record had paste last night with a glass or red wine. I don't write all the amounts, but I think it does help me to stay focused. I also joined Zumba classes with a friend and it's a blast.
