Eating a diet rich in calcium can be beneficial for dental health, according to Dr Pravesh Solanki, dentist at Cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk.

Dr Solanki explained that milk is particularly beneficial for teeth as it contains calcium which is a "main component" of both bones and teeth.

He said: "Green tea has antioxidants that reduce plaque build up. Milk and yogurt are good for teeth because they contain low acidity."

It is more important, he said, to avoid food which can damage to teeth such as "sugary snacks and fizzy drinks".

The British Dental Health Foundation states that consuming sugary food or drink can lead to teeth being "under acid attack" for as long as 60 minutes.

Sugary products should therefore only be eaten at mealtimes and in limited quantities it suggests.

People should also be equally cautious about eating a diet rich in acidic foods which can erod the enamel of the teeth, the foundation warns.ADNFCR-858-ID-800724734-ADNFCR
