Eat your greens! says new research

Great nutrition is vital to every weight loss programme, and that means making the right choices when it comes to the food you eat.

New research suggests that supplements are no replacement for a good hearty meal.

Oregon State University conducted an investigation into whether or not the health benefits of eating cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, can be replicated in tablet form.

Unfortunately for all you pill poppers out there, to get the true cancer-beating, anti-oxidant, heart disease-blasting goodness of leafy green vegetables, you have to eat them whole and, preferably, raw.

The reason is just a single enzyme called myrosinase, which can be easily killed off in cooking and is not present in supplements, but allows the body to absorb between five and eight times the amount of healthy compounds.

Not only can they fail to truly reproduce the great benefits of vegetables, but some supplements can actually increase mortality risks for older women.

Getting on a healthy eating diet plan is the only true way of getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.ADNFCR-858-ID-800755368-ADNFCR
