Fitness plans involve sustainable lifestyle change
Research from London Metropolitan University found that maintaining the drive to stick to a regular fitness routine can be difficult once the initial incentive has worn off.
Rich Leigh, weight loss expert, and founder of fatfreefitness.co.uk, said: "Initially it's always an aesthetic thing. Then the reality sets in that it has to be a life change as opposed to just a few weeks.
"Set more realistic goals, either by saying exactly how much they want to lose and sticking quite regularly to that plan, or by finding some other motivation to carry on."
This month, the British Heart Foundation reported that UK adults are failing to get enough daily exercise, with over two thirds (68 per cent) admitting they don't get their 30 minutes of recommended physical activity a day.
According to experts at International Fitness Week, regular exercise regimes boost mood, energy and help reduce stress.
