Fitness trainer: 'Consistency' key to regaining pre-pregnancy figure
That is according to celebrity fitness trainer Steve Halsall, who has suggested that women need to rebuild their fitness levels by exercising regularly for short periods.
He said: "It's all about routine and consistency and then over time energy levels rise ... I am a great believer in little and often [and that] will add up."
Mr Halsall stressed that it was easier for a person to shape up post-pregnancy if they kept themselves in good physical condition before they had a baby.
Research by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk revealed that the biggest concern for women following pregnancy was that they may gain weight.
The same survey revealed that a third of women who said they did not plan to have children made the decision based on the fact they were concerned pregnancy would ruin their figure.
