Life Cycle UK: Cycling aids weight management
That is according to Poppy Brett, director of Life Cycle UK, who has said that cycling to work or school every day may be a way to take 30 minutes of exercise that is "essential [for] good health".
She said: "Cycling exercises the large skeletal muscles, boosts lung capacity and helps with weight control. It can protect against non-insulin-dependent diabetes and greatly reduce the risk of heart disease."
In addition, she suggested it is a good way to combat stress and implied that it may help those who are depressed or suffer with insomnia.
Not only does it benefit individuals, cycling can help to protect the environment as well, she said.
A study by the London School of Economics and Political Science has revealed that women are more stressed by their daily commute than men.
