Maintain healthy diet to boost skin and hair
Dr Bav Shergill, consultant dermatologist at Hove Skin Clinic, revealed that certain foods and drinks can be harmful for the skin.
For instance, alcohol has a dehydrating effect and can worsen conditions such as rosacea, seborrhoeic dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.
Coffee is another beverage that may exacerbate rosacea, a long-term condition that affects up to one in ten people, causing flushing, spots and persistent redness.
Meanwhile, acne may be worsened by high-glycaemic index (GI) foods, such as ready meals and cakes.
Dr Shergill advised: "A healthy diet, comprised of all recommended vitamins and minerals, will improve skin and hair quality.
"Vitamin C is good for skin healing. Zinc is excellent for boosting your immune system - and [is] often lacking in vegetarian diets."
