A large percentage of Britons are failing to eat breakfast and people need to reverse this trend and realise that it is an important meal which is beneficial for their health.

That is according to Dora Walsh, nutritional therapist, whose comments come in light of research from Best Western hotels, which revealed that one third of people fail to eat breakfast.

Ms Walsh said: "It is all about preparation and making time in the morning ... it is really [about] making breakfast a priority for your health."

She said that people could make the first meal of the day part of a healthy diet by mixing yoghurt and fruit into muesli, choosing porridge or scrambled eggs on wholegrain toast.

It was, she said, important to eat quality ingredients, avoid white bread and opt for something like wholegrain cereals instead.

Research published in the International Journal of Obesity revealed that people who ate breakfast were less likely to become obese.ADNFCR-858-ID-800045239-ADNFCR
