In order to maintain a healthy diet it is important to have quick, easy to prepare recipes to hand.

That is the advice being issued by Helena Oades, nutritionist for Zeal Health, who has suggested that being able to cook up food quickly can help people to avoid the temptation of a takeaway.

She said: "I would always suggest having a list of quick, easy recipes at home that you can create with minimal effort and time. Stir-fries and pasta meals are often quick and tasty, using ingredients many of us have already at home."

Ms Oades also suggested that people should plan their meals in advance so that they don't end up with an empty fridge which may lead to them eating unhealthily.

Her comments come in light of research by the Local Government Association which has revealed that a portion of chicken tikka masala and pilau rice contains 116 per cent of a person's Guideline Daily Amount of saturated fat.ADNFCR-858-ID-800727576-ADNFCR
