People are increasingly concerned with their physical appearance, which may be one of the factors influencing the rise in cosmetic procedures.

That is according to Zara Rabinowicz, beauty expert, who has stated that rhinoplasty and breast enlargement are the most requested cosmetic enhancements in the UK, which she said may in part be due to the "sexualisation" of British culture.

"People feel under more pressure nowadays to look young and be seen as attractive- whether it's to compete in a more challenging job market or to be comparable to celebrities I couldn't say", Ms Rabinowicz explained.

Dr Yale Popowich, a plastic surgeon in Portland, has suggested that women who undergo breast enhancement surgery following weight loss should wait until they are either close to or at their ideal weight before undergoing the procedure.

His comments follow a study published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which showed that when women lost weight after breast surgery, they were less happy with the results.ADNFCR-858-ID-800770910-ADNFCR
