Researchers suggests potatoes good for blood pressure
That is according to researchers from Scranton University in Pennsylvania, whose research was reported at the American Chemical Society's annual conference.
Joe Vinson, researcher on the project, said: "Mention potatoes and people think 'fatty, high carbs, empty calories. We hope our research helps to remake the potatoes popular nutritional image."
The researchers revealed that in order to get the benefit from potatoes, they should be cooked with their skins on as this is where the blood-pressure lowering chemicals are contained.
They also recommended that microwaving is the preferred method of cooking them as this helps to retain their goodness.
Alan Shalita, chairman of the department of dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York, has suggested that people suffering from acne should limit the amount of carbohydrates and dairy they consume.
