The meals offered to children need to be further improved, according to private healthcare group.

Alison Wyndham, founder of the Wyndham Centres – a group of clinic offering private medical treatments – believes that meals provided to children do not contain enough minerals and nutrients, and are too rich in sugar.

"Unhealthy meals lead to a very acidic body and we are meant to be alkaline," she explained. "Our bodies work hard to keep us alkaline by using our buffer system, which [consists of] our minerals."

However, when the body cannot obtain enough minerals from a person's diet, it will call on reserves, such as the calcium contained in bones, which can cause osteoporosis.

"Children’s taste buds are very much geared to sweet and salty tastes which are in the processed foods," she said.

"Many people do not know what a healthy diet is. In this day and age we tend to be educated by the food industry who are not necessarily interested in healthy eating."ADNFCR-858-ID-801228903-ADNFCR
