Sharron Davies calls for sensible approach to diet

If people follow a healthy diet and take regular exercise they can enjoy the occasional treat.

That is according to TV personality and sports star Sharron Davies MBE, who has been heralding the benefits of foods such as pork pies, which she implied could be eaten as part of a balanced diet.

She said: "If you've got an active lifestyle it is quite surprising what you can actually eat and [you can] enjoy yourself. Getting too worked up about food is not a good thing."

The star of Dancing on Ice called for people to adopt a "sensible, moderate attitude" to their lifestyle.

She suggested that as the population is living longer, individuals need to look at the quality of their lives and consider how their diet and exercise regime affects their health.
