Variety is the key to a healthy diet, expert suggests
Ms Stirling-Reed said that avoiding food that is high in fat and sugar, and eating a variety of things should help people to maintain a healthy diet.
She said: "Simply eating regular meals, with a variety of foods each day from the main food group ... is the best way of keeping healthy and maintaining a healthy weight."
People should aim to consume fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, which should be wholegrain, dairy and protein, she suggested.
Research by the Dieticians Association of Australia (DAA) has suggested that the majority of people who lose weight using diet drinks go on to regain it.
The DAA concluded that 95 per cent of people who lost weight with the help of diet drinks regained it within one to five years.
