Getting the right vitamins and minerals in your diet is crucial to healthy living, and people have been reminded of the dangers of vitamin A deficiency.

According to the Nutrition Society, a lack of the vitamin can have an adverse effect on your eye health and is linked to night blindness.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr Sarah Schenker said that getting enough vitamin A in your diet will help your eyes to adapt in dim light conditions.

"There are a few nutrients that are particularly important for eye health and there also some plant chemicals that are quite important as well, but they are not classified as essential nutrients," she added.

"We know when you eat them from fruits and vegetables they have a positive impact on eye health."

She was speaking in response to a report by Seven Seas Health Oils, which indicated that the average Briton usually only feels in top condition for one day of the working week.ADNFCR-858-ID-801213429-ADNFCR
