Dieting success for Carol
Here she explains how she did it…
What made you decide to join us?
At the start of this year I was at an all time low because I couldn't fit into my size 18 clothes. I knew that I didn’t need a New Years Resolution, I needed a miracle. The church held a 6 week Heartbeat programme which started in mid-January. The first week they had a large bowl of fruit and a bowl with 10 chocolates, both were 500 calories. That really affected me, since I loved chocolate so much. They also held a weigh-in, seeing my weight really made a difference. I’d been avoiding the scales for ages and to actually see what I weighed was an eye opener.
Was your weight causing you any problems?
I had a negative self-image and a lack of confidence. I didn’t want to buy clothes and I only wore baggy ones. I hated being anywhere near the camera.
Tell us about your diet before you joined us?
I didn’t eat breakfast and even skipped lunch some days. Everytime I went into the kitchen I would have some sort of snack, from sweets to biscuits, without thinking about it. At night I would sit in front of the tv with coffee and chocolate. I always ate large portions at teatime too.
What difference has losing weight made to you?
I have some nice fitted tops and smaller jeans which I look good in. Everyone is commenting on how well I look and it’s such an amazing feeling. All my friends want to know my secret.
What did you think of the service overall?
The secret was the meal plans. Having the weekly shopping list was so good - knowing what you need to buy at the shops and having a steel will to avoid extra treats.
Have you any other information you would like to give?
It really is worth sitting down and planning the whole weeks meals in advance. Then you know what you have to work with. Stick to your shopping list and don’t buy anything else.
