Elizabeth cuts her medication in half

Elizabeth was worried about her health and she constantly felt tired. After coming across a leaflet for the Lower salt plan she decided it was worth trying. Not only did she want to improve how she felt physically, but she had the added incentive of an upcoming holiday. Donning a bikini when she was feeling less than her most attractive was far from appealing. Elizabeth lost 1 stone 7 lbs and got her health on track. In her own words she says ‘I have never enjoyed being on a diet so much in my life.

Elizabeth tells us her story…

What made you decide to join us?

I was shopping in my local Tesco when I saw a leaflet about the online diet and I liked what I read. I knew I was overweight because I had no energy. We were going on holiday in July and I felt losing some weight before I went would be a start in the right direction.

What diet plan did you follow?

The Lower salt plan, because I have high blood pressure. I have halved my medication because of the weight I lost.

Have you previously tried any other diets?

I have joined a couple of clubs in the past and I did manage to get 4 lbs below my target. Then just before I remarried in 2008, I tried a shake diet, but only lost a few pounds. I didn’t enjoy it at all and thought it was a complete waste of time.

Was your weight causing you any problems?

I think it was the energy side particularly that got me going. Also my new husband is 11 ½ years younger than me, so I wanted to look nice for him. I was at my weight now when we first started seeing each other in 2005.

What difference has losing weight made to you?

I feel so much better in myself. I am much happier and more energised now. Only my age tires me.

Did you enjoy the Lower salt plan?

I loved it and I think that is because I had to be true to myself because I was doing it in my own home. It’s no use paying money and telling lies saying I have lost weight if I haven’t. I enjoyed the range of dishes that I could choose from. I have a few favourites that I use over and over again.

Did exercise play any part in helping you to lose weight?

I have done different exercises such as Body Pump, Jazzercise with my daughter, but mostly I walk the dog, which is a springer spaniel and need loads of exercise. I look after my grandchildren, which takes a lot of energy and work part time and I am on my feet all day there.

How do you feel about your weight loss?

I love showing off my figure. When I bought my first pair of size 12 jeans I was so pleased with myself. At the time they were a bit tight, but they are really comfy now. I do watch my portions all the time and eat loads more vegetables and fruit.

Have you any other information you would like to give?

I found that the weeks I put on or stayed the same were hard, but it made me even more determined to lose more the following week.
