I can wear whatever I want'
Here Jo tells us how she did it…
What made you decide to join us?
I was the biggest I’ve ever been and it was affecting my confidence. A family member was sick with cancer too, so I really needed something to focus on. I decided to do a half marathon for charity and lose weight.
Was your weight causing you any problems?
I was wearing things I wouldn’t normally wear because I felt so self-conscious, particularly baggy things. I would do the things I'd normally do, but I was very self-conscious about my weight and had very little confidence.
Tell us about your diet before you joined us?
I was picking a lot more at work, and I ate puddings which I never did before. Gradually my weight crept up.
Have you enjoyed the Gi diet plan?
Yes, the diet was easy to follow and you get results. I never felt hungry and the plans could easily be changed if you wanted to try something different. It was helpful to know there was support when needed.
What difference has losing weight made to you?
I feel like my old self again and I can buy whatever I want to wear without having to think about it too much.
Are there any aspects you are particularly proud of?
I’m proud that I’ve managed to get myself fit and do the half-marathon, plus I am confident enough to wear anything including a bikini.
Do you feel confident about maintaining your weight loss?
I recently went to America for a month and tried to eat sensibly. When I came back I found I hadn’t gained any weight. I know what things to eat now, but I also know I can have treats as long as it’s not the whole time.
Have you any other information you would like to give?
It’s not easy and your weight does go up and down, but you shouldn’t give up. If you have a bad day, it doesn’t matter too much, just try and maintain a healthy diet for the rest of the week.
