Indiya now loves what she sees in the mirror.

Indiya lost 3 stone and now loves what she sees in the mirror…and so does her boyfriend. .

Indiya explains how losing weight changed her life for the better.

Tell us about your weight loss?
I went from a size 16 to a size 10. When I started my plan I was 14 stone with a BMI of 30. Now, I am 11 stone and a BMI of 23.

How has your life changed for the better in 2010?
Losing weight has made a real difference to my life. Before I started my diet plan, I was almost classed as obese and when I was confronted with this it was a huge wake up call. Now I am much happier with my body and more content, not just with the way I look but also with how I feel. I recently had a health check done at work and everything came out as ’ideal’. I know this wouldn’t have been the case last year. Losing weight encouraged me to take up running and I have now competed at 10k. I ran a half marathon in under 2 hours - something I’d never have managed before. I used to get out of breath just going for a walk. Not only am I happier in myself, I am healthier - physically and mentally. I also feel that I am closer to my boyfriend than I was before as I’m not so hung up on my body anymore.

What steps have you taken to achieve this positive change?
When I was playing on the next door neighbours Wii and it said I was ’obese’ this really stung. That’s when I decided I needed to do something about my weight. My diet plan really helped as I reduced my calorie intake and stuck to it. I also swim for half an hour every weekday morning and run 3 or 4 times a week. My boyfriend and I made the decision to not buy junk food so that it wasn’t in the house. This has made a huge impact as the temptation to snack can’t take over. I also found that telling everyone I was going on a diet really helped as it made me feel like I really can’t fail as I’ve told so many people about it and I would look like a fool. This gave me the extra kick I needed.

Is there something you love doing that had a major role in this change?

Without a shadow of a doubt, running. I only took it up in Spring 2010 and I love it - I’m a running addict. Whilst I only took it up to assist with losing weight, I can’t imagine not running now and I love competing and challenging myself to do well. Even though my weight is now fine, I still run and absolutely love it. Getting outside in the fresh air in the country is an amazing feeling, even when it’s raining and blowing a gale.

Any other information you would like to give?
I learned so much about healthy eating and I’m always thinking of what I’m putting in my shopping basket now. When people tell me I look great and how did I do it, I always tell them it was through my online diet plan and urge them to give it a go. It’s really easy to do and tracking your weight online is good as you don’t want to have the graph showing that you’ve put weight on - you want to see a steady decrease!
