Nicolle's retirement changed her life forever

Nicolle retired and found a new lease of life in the process. She lost the excess weight and got the body she always longed for, now she’s slimmer then ever before.

Here’s how she did it…

How long have you been a member?

I joined in May 2010.

What diet plan did you follow?

I followed the Mediterranean plan.

What made you decide to join us?

I retired from work due to medical reasons as I have MS. I thought this is the turning point where I am going to get the body I have always wanted. I use two crutches to walk so I can’t use my legs as well as other people but I am determined to be a glamorous as I can.

Have you previously tried any other diets and were they successful?

I have always tried to diet by myself by just cutting out certain foods, I would lose some weight but it would always creep back on.

What weight and clothes size were you before you joined us, and what is your current weight and clothes size?

I was 13 stone 1 lb and a size 16, now I weigh 9 stone 9 lbs and I am a size 10.

Did you lose any inches?

I lost 6.5 inches off my waist and 5.5 inches off my hips.

What part, if any, has exercise played in helping you to lose weight?

I am unable to exercise due to my MS but this just made the weight loss even more exciting as I never thought that I would be able to slim down without exercising.

Was your weight causing you any problems?

I have always had low self esteem as I have always been a bit chubby. I found it difficult to buy clothes as I was always so self conscious.

What difference has losing weight made to you?

My confidence has slowly started coming back. When I’m buying a size 10 I still think that the sales assistants will think “that will never fit her”. I have never been this thin in my life so it takes some getting used to.

Have you enjoyed the diet plan?

I found the meal plans great and I really liked the fact that I could alter them to my own tastes. I also found the feedback each week really encouraging; it really gave me a boost if I had a bad week.

Tell us about your diet before you joined us?

I always tried to eat healthy food in the past but I did have periods of binging and now I realise that my portion sizes were far too big.

How have your family and friends reacted to your weight loss?

They are all amazed at how well I have done.

How do you feel about your weight loss?

I am determined that this is a new way of life, I still have the odd treat but now it’s in moderation. I feel healthier inside and I no longer have that sluggish feeling. I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so that I can wear my summer clothes, I’m still wearing lots of layers at the moment to keep the cold out, so I can’t really show off my new figure yet.

Do you feel confident about maintaining your weight loss?

Yes, I’m determined to maintain it.

Any other comments you would like to make?

I was ill after some treatment and was completely off my food for a few weeks but I contacted the nutrition team and they were able to offer me some useful advice on what to eat and they altered my calories until I was well again, I found them very helpful and supportive.
