Penny rediscovers her love of exercise!

Catherine Matthews

Joining the online diet plans was Penny’s last ditch attempt to lose weight. She had embarked on numerous weight loss attempts before but any success was shortlived. Dejected from her misguided efforts Penny knew that this was the last diet she would ever go on.

“I was ‘fair, fat and 40’ and decided I did not want to be ‘fair, fat and 50’. I only told a couple of close friends about the plan as I didn’t want to jinx it. I decided that if this diet plan didn’t work, I would never try to lose weight again and be happy with my lot.”

Penny’s last hope turned out to be her best hope! She lost 4 stone 2 lbs and dropped 5 dress sizes, not bad for someone that was all but ready to accept the fact she would never diet again.

“I was 16 stone 2 lbs and a size 24. I am now 12 stone and a size 12. I look so much younger now and I have even started to grow my hair (it has been short since I was 15). My friends say that they liked the old Penny, but they love the new Penny!”

Losing the weight helped to re-invigorate Penny’s passion for horse riding.

“As I lost weight, I became more and more confident and now I ride around six days a week.”

Increasing her fitness means that she has much more energy and can do everyday tasks that were a chore previously.

“I really think exercise helps and the more you do the more you want to do. It also tones you up.”

Socially Penny’s lifestyle has never been better and she has been able to replace her self doubt with an air of assuredness.

“I am a new person. Not only do I look different, but I also act differently. My confidence is back in the areas that are important to me.”

At almost 50 Penny finally was able to acknowledge that she has a great womanly figure to be proud of.

“I didn’t realise until this diet that I had an hour-glass figure. I bought a lovely fitted dress that really shows my curves. When I was younger I would never have had the confidence to wear a dress like that.”

Penny follows the convenience version of the Vegetarian plan. This meal plan slots into her hectic schedule and she didn’t need to worry about having to prepare difficult, time consuming meals.

“As a vegetarian, the number of diets available is quite limited, but the choice with the online programme was wonderful. An online club was the only way to go. I think the meal plans but probably more importantly the shopping list is Heaven Sent!”

Penny is certain that she can maintain her great success forever. She has discovered how great following a healthy lifestyle can be so she is sticking with her new regime for good.

“I couldn’t believe how much better I felt within myself, the tiredness and lack of energy disappeared.”

And finally a few words of wisdom from Penny’s mother.

“My mum always used to say, eat to live not live to eat. I love food but I understand what she meant.”
